West 7th Street is iconic in Saint Paul history. First settled by the Germans in the late 1800's, they were also responsible for the brewery that still stands in the iconic skyline along the Mississippi.
W. 7th was the heartbeat of Saint Paul for many years. Home to the Irish railroad workers, the German brewery workers, and a host of ethnic groups including the Russians, the Poles, the Czechs, and the Italians whose presence is still felt in the local restaurants and establisments. Unfortunately, like many of these streets in American cities, W. 7th fell out of popularity and urban blight took its toll. What was once a bustling and thriving neighborhood was losing its lustre as the suburbs and shopping malls lured the next generations away from the city.
I grew up in Saint Paul. I love this city. In my opinion, the view from the high bridge on a crisp fall morning will rival any cityscape around. St. Paul's Cathedral, the State Capitol building, Summit Ave., the mighty Mississippi River, and the iconic 1st Bank building are among the notable sights.
I am excited to say, WEST 7TH STREET IS MAKING A COMEBACK! High end coffee shops, restaurants, and shops are coming in. A market in the old brewery that is taking its cues from the famous Chelsea Market of Manhattan is slated to open in 2017 and the old W. 7th Street is being revived. So is America's love for classic cocktails. Bars and restaurants are spending as much time and money on their cocktail menu as their food menu and this is exciting!
I thought it was fitting to name a company after a street that is growing and being resurrected just as the love for the classic cocktail is growing in our cities.
WELCOME TO 7TH STREET COCKTAILS.
